How does Acupuncture Work?
Chinese medicine and acupuncture work like a type of neurological and cardiovascular medicine. It works by relaxing the central nervous system and getting you out of “flight and fight” and back into “rest and digest.” Acupuncture also helps the blood circulate freely—distributing oxygen, nutrients, hormones, and other important factors throughout your body.
A great analogy is to imagine how a garden hose waters a garden. If the hose becomes kinked, not enough water flows to the garden and the flowers and vegetables starve and begin to wilt.
Now imagine our nerves and blood vessels being similar to the garden hose. When we are stressed out and tense, we constrict our tissues causing nerve impingement and impaired blood flow. It’s that simple. When nerves don’t fire correctly and blood cannot flow freely to where the body needs it most, our systems begin to break down.
Lastly, imagine if the water source to our garden was filled with toxins and harsh irritants. Life would be poisoned and unable to sustain. Likewise if our blood is filled with allergens, autoimmune responses, and inflammation—we too would suffer from such poor conditions.
Can acupuncture help me?
Most likely Yes!
Illness and any sense of feeling out of sorts is an indication of an underlying imbalance in our fundamental energy, nerve function, and blood flow. We will evaluate your situation and create a unique treatment plan to address your specific needs.
Can Acupuncture help with non-physical problems?
Physical disorders can cause an imbalance in your mental outlook and emotional well-being. This may manifest as undue anger, pervasive sadness and the like. Likewise, mental disturbances, stress and emotional conflict can cause a host of physical complaints. All the treatments aim to restore the harmony of the body, the mind and the spirit. As one improves, so do the others.
What is Chinese Medicine?
Chinese medicine is a complete, effective, and elegant system of medicine that efficiently and uniquely diagnoses and treats the cause of disease.
This approach to healthcare is ancient in origin and continues to offer profound healing to people with a wide array of problems in our contemporary world.
The earliest practitioners, who were closely in touch with nature and its cycles of birth and death, observed how our bodies and minds were a microcosm of the world reflected without. The way the seasons and cycle of nature work in harmony and follow a pattern, so do our bodily systems within. When these cycles that manifest within us are balanced and harmonious, we experience health, well-being and the joy of being alive.
